Every day in Québec, thousands of women suffer from the violence of their spouse or partner. They are assaulted, raped, or abused in different ways. Sometimes, more insidiously, behind the closed doors of their house, they suffer the insults, the denigration and the constant control of their spouse, until they break down.
The Shelter is a warm home that will give you the opportunity to rebuild yourself and regain control over your life. Despite the current context, these services are still offered and available for you and your children. A multidisciplinary team provides a multitude of services to women and children who are victims of conjugal violence. In addition to providing temporary accommodations through the shelter and the 14 second-stage apartments, the Shelter has developed over the years, various services to benefit and support women and children who are not housed in the Shelter, through phone conversation, personal accompaniment, follow-ups and counselling sessions. A crisis counsellor is available for you 24/7 to help you shed light on what you are going through in complete confidentiality. In addition, you can meet a counsellor from external services who can offer you support adapted to your needs and to what you are experiencing. The Shelter has also devoted part of its energies to informing and educating the population and diverse professionals about conjugal violence.
