Special refuse

Restrictions

Residents having done work themselves can use this service free of charge twice a year, or up to 4.5 m3 (6 v3), to dispose of non-household refuse.

Period

This service is available from May 1 to October 31.

Extra collection or volume

The service is free so long as the quantity of refuse does not exceed 4.5 m3 (6 yd3). Above this, charges will apply.

For any additional pickup (more than 2) or quantity exceeding 4.5 m3 (6 yd3), an hourly rate of $150 set by the City applies. Charges are payable at City offices prior to the pickup.

Timeframe

Pickup will take place within ten to fourteen business days following a request.

Accepted materials with mandatory sorting

To facilitate pickup and recycling, certain material must be placed in an orderly fashion on the resident’s property, curb or sidewalk. Material must be separated and placed as follows parallel to the street:

  • Wood, fences (pannels between 4 ft and 6 ft wide), tree trunks and stumps
  • Railway ties
  • Sand and rocks
  • Earth
  • Glass and windows
  • Pieces of metal and wood no longer than 1.8 m (6 ft)
  • Masonry and cement
  • Plasterboard, ceramic, bricks and unistone

Excluded material

  • Asphalt
  • Tires
  • Pool covers
  • Vinyl siding

Note

The City will not pick up materials left over from work executed by a contractor.

Public Works but residents can make their request for a special collection to the information counter at City Hall, at 514-684-1010.

You can register your request for pickup 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, between May 1 and October 31.

COVID-19 - Usually, the refuse collection takes place, at your request, within ten to fourteen business days, depending on the traffic period. Please note that due to the pandemic situation of covid-19, this timeframe may be longer due to reduced staff at work. Please be assured that your request will be kept on file and will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
