A Queen and her colony have just landed in Dollard-des-Ormeaux! Thanks to a City-led initiative, in partnership with Alvéole, a beehive has been installed at Centennial Park. The colony, guided by her royal highness the queen bee, will play an essential role in our urban ecosystem.

The project aims to encourage pollination, a vital process for biodiversity and the health of natural systems. By creating a safe habitat for bees in an urban setting, the City is also contributing to their protection, at a time when these crucial pollinators are under global threat.

The hive will serve as an educational tool for residents of all ages. Informative signage on-site will help visitors and school groups learn more about the fascinating world of bees and their role in our environment.

Finally, the presence of hives in public spaces helps to beautify and enrich our green areas, creating places where nature, learning, and well-being come together.

A sweet and sustainable initiative to keep an eye on this summer!
