The building supervisor ensures the completion of activities and operations in our buildings by meeting the needs of both internal and external clients. Among other responsibilities, they ensure that facilities are up to standard and ready for activities, as well as ensuring the routine maintenance of buildings and various facilities of the City such as arenas, libraries, pools, etc.

The incumbent will also be responsible for:

  • Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external clients;
  • Plan, organize, direct, control and coordinate cleaning activities (hygiene and sanitation) in various city buildings such as City Hall, arenas, libraries, pools, chalets, etc.;
  • Coordinate and distribute work to the team under his/her supervision (4 to 7 blue-collar employees);
  • Receive and process complaints and requests within your teams responsibility: resolving them, ensuring follow-up, making recommendations for appropriate preventive measures, and implementing them;
  • Responsible for the health and safety of your team, the facilities, and subcontractors;
  • Participates in the preparation of technical specifications and tender documents for the building division;
  • Oversee the conformity of work carried out by subcontractors and falling within his/her field of competence;
  • Participates in the rotating on-call service within the building division.

Qualifications required

Profile:

  • College diploma in a relevant field;
  • Two to five years of relevant experience in the field;
  • Experience in personnel management in a unionized environment;
  • Ability to draft technical specifications;
  • Basic knowledge of building mechanics is an asset;
  • Knowledge and experience in applying workplace health and safety standards;
  • Bilingualism in French and English.

Employment status

Benefits and salary

  •  38-hour workweek :
    • Sunday to Wednesday from 22h36 to 7h00 and Thursday from 22h36 to 3h00
  • 13 public holidays and 2 additional days off between Christmas and New Year’s Day
  • 53.20 hours of sick and personal leave
  • 38 hours of floating holidays
  • Supplementary defined-benefit pension plan (equal contributions by the employer and participants)
  • Generous group insurance benefits, including health and dental insurance, and salary insurance
  • Access to a training room, library and lunch-hour sports activities
  • 2024 salary range from $82,225 to $106,893
