We are happy to inform you that safety pruning work on streets and in the City’s 11 major parks is now complete, and safety levels have been restored. This work is now continuing in the smaller parks, public green spaces and islands, as well as on certain pathways. We are also pleased to announce that all sports fields and facilities are now open, with the exception of the soccer field at Fairview Park which will reopen in just a few more days.
At the same time, the 2nd round of branches and tree trunks pick up from curbsides and public property is also well underway. Nearly 50% of this second collection operation, prioritized since the storm, has already been completed, thanks to the daily commitment of City crews and the great cooperation of our residents.
The City’s priority is to ensure the safety of our residents’ living spaces. This is why, exceptionally, routine operations such as mechanical sweeping, asphalting, excavation or water mains, among others, normally carried out by the Public Works Department during this season, could be delayed by 3 to 4 weeks.
We would like to thank our residents for their patience and cooperation since the events of April 5, and to highlight the remarkable work of our blue-collar employees in the field, who continue their work to ensure that all branches are removed from our streets in the coming weeks.
