The City of Dollard-des-Ormeaux has taken a step forward for the environment
During the Ecology and Gardening Day held on Saturday, May 4 at Centennial Park, Mayor Alex Bottausci planted a tree to encourage residents and institutions to access the City's tree planting grant.
The tree planting grant, in association with the non-profit organization GRAME, offers a choice of more than 20 tree species and takes care of all the heavy tasks for residents. Indeed, they will deliver and plant the trees that the resident or institutions have chosen. A nominal deposit of $25 or $35 is required, depending on the tree species. However, if the tree is well maintained for the two subsequent years, this deposit will be returned.
In addition, the City has created a contest for residents who plant trees. They will be able to follow the City's Instagram page, take a creative photo of their new planted tree, upload it to their Instagram account with the hashtag #DDOGREEN and identify @VILLEDDO. Those who participate can win a bike or one of two gardening sets.
For full information, residents can click on the "tree planting program" tab.
The City's goal is to plant 1,000 trees this year with the grant. The City will plant 800 trees in public spaces. The residents of Dollard-des-Ormeaux are sensitive to this project, which is already a success.
