Mayor's Message: Gatherings at parks are not permitted!
Our parks are a place to be active and enjoy nature. During this pandemic, our parks have been providing our residents with much needed peaceful moments in nature during the day. They have become indispensable for many of us during this time.
Although our city understands that our parks are essential to the well-being of our residents during this difficult period, we are very preoccupied by the crowds and gatherings at parks.
Many calls are coming into the City from worried residents seeing people and groups gathering at parks, especially Centennial Park.
Our city must assure the safety of all it’s residents. If individuals do not comply with the directives of the Québec Government, they will face consequences.
Police services across the province have been authorized to hand out fines ranging from $1,000 to $6,000.
Fines will be issued to those who violate public health guidelines, such as gathering in groups or not keeping at least two metres away from one another.
We are closely monitoring the situation and will take all necessary measures to ensure that we contain the spread of COVID-19. If people continue to disrespect directives, we will be forced to close all parks in Dollard-des-Ormeaux, including Centennial Park.
We all have a social responsibility towards our more vulnerable population. I urge all residents to respect the directives of health authorities and the government at all times.
