Ville de Dollard-des-Ormeaux is proud to launch Meals on Wheels in its facilities!
This Thursday, February 14 at 11 a.m. in its Civic Centre, the City of Dollard-des-Ormeaux will proudly announce the launch of a new Meals on Wheels kitchen.
The City has partnered with Volunteer West Island (VWI) to set up this project, which is aimed at providing nutritious hot meals to seniors experiencing loss of autonomy. The meals include a main course and a dessert, which will be prepared by volunteers twice a week in the kitchen facilities of Dollard-des-Ormeaux’s new Community Centre and then delivered to users.
The City is committed to supporting this project, which promotes healthy eating while enabling seniors experiencing loss of autonomy to stay independent by remaining in their home. “We know that food security is a challenge for seniors that can lead to malnutrition. The aim of this project is to improve seniors’ quality of life by providing nutritious homemade meals, delivered to their home with a smile, and breaking their isolation,” Mayor Alex Bottausci explains.
The City of Dollard-des-Ormeaux is proud to offer VWI its kitchen facilities in the new Community Centre free of charge as well as provide funding to enable VWI to successfully implement this worthy project.
