According to available data, <b>between 100 and 170 mm of rain fell in some areas of the city within approximately one hour.<\/b> This weather event was caused by a nearly stationary storm cell that remained over the area for an extended period, releasing an exceptional amount of rainfall over a relatively small territory.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">As a result, the water level in Centennial Lake, the City&#8217;s main retention basin, rose by 2.25 metres in a very short period of time.
