Drinking water conservation

Share

The City wishes to raise awareness among residents about the value of water and the importance of reducing water consumption. Less than 1% of the Earth’s water supply can be used as drinking water.

Thank you for using water efficiently and helping to prevent waste.

What makes our water so good?

The water you drink comes from the Pierrefonds water treatment plant and is drawn from Rivière des Prairies. Some of the treated water also comes from the Pointe-Claire water treatmentplant, which draws its water from Lake Saint-Louis.

Here are the treatment steps that ensure the water you consume is of excellent quality.

A visual overview of our water consumption

Residents of Dollard-des-Ormeaux consume an average of 309 liters of water. This is 20% more than the Quebec average.

This consumption increases by 30% during the summer. Water consumption is not constant, with peak demand occurring in the morning and evening. Take a look at the breakdown of water consumption in the chart below:

Save money and protect the planet: Adopt a water meter!

A water meter allows you to monitor your consumption in real time, quickly detect leaks and save water while reducing the waste of unused water.
With a water meter, you have the power to make a real impact on both your wallet and the environment.
Immediate savings

Identify issues like leaking faucets or toilets.

Reduce the risk of water damage with a modern, leak-tight valve.

The City takes care of everything: supplying, installing, and maintaining your meter.

Using a residential water meter will not result in an increase in property taxes.

Adjust your consumption habits by tracking your daily usage.
