Job Description

Work involving the driving and/or operation of motorized equipment and vehicles (with a gross vehicle weight over 4,500kg) such as a 6 or 10-wheel truck, a Colpron, a scrubber, a transport truck, a salt spreader in operation with or without a snowplow, a sprinkler, a forklift (+2,200 kg), a line marking truck, a water truck and a bombardier tractor or other vehicles with or without accessories.

He/she is required to ensure the proper operation and minor maintenance of his/her vehicle or equipment, and to keep it in a satisfactory state of cleanliness. Work involving the operation of vehicles and small equipment (farm tractors, lawn tractors, etc.), watering for horticultural purposes, as well as work involving the general maintenance of parks, skating rinks, sidewalks, etc., is also part of the responsibilities of this position. In addition, he/she must perform manual tasks related to the function of general laborer – parks.

EXAMPLES OF TASKS PERFORMED

  • Empty garbage cans, collect trash and garbage and take it to the designated areas.
  • Cut grass with motorized mowers.
  • Weeds and waters vegetation, spreads seeds, etc., and repairs damaged grass areas, spreads earth and sand if necessary, repairs and straightens unistone paving.
  • Assemble and dismantle various playground equipment in parks, as well as tables, benches, ball stops, shelters, signs, etc.
  • Repairs “frost” metal fences, installs T-bars (signposts) to delineate paths, parking lots and bus stops.
  • Installs and paints garbage cans, swings, tennis posts, park benches, etc.
  • Installs and repairs goals, nets, tarps and stakes on tennis courts, rolls grass and tennis courts by hand or with the use of a motorized roller, prepares mounds on ball fields.
  • In the area of the sports fields, perform linework, tracing and mowing according to required standards.
  • Assembles and dismantles outdoor skating rinks, and prepares, maintains, waters and clears snow from outdoor skating rinks during the winter season.
  • Performs general chalet maintenance.

Qualifications required

  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • Two (2) years’ of relevant job experience;
  • Valid Class 3 driver’s license with F status.
  • ASP health and safety on Construction sites certificate or in the process of obtaining one

Employment status

– Temporary position – 36 hours per week, until November 2024 (possibility to be recalled)
– Schedule: Monday to Thursday 6h45 to 15h00, Friday 6h45 to 11h45
– Hourly salary: $35.19 – as per the current collective agreement
