History
The Aquatic Centre was built during the first phase of the Civic Center. It has been officially open to the public since 1977.
In 1980, the municipality of Dollard-des-Ormeaux recognized the need to create an association to manage the growing number of aquatic programs for its citizens, as well as the citizens of neighbouring cities, and thus the Dollard-des-Ormeaux Aquatic Association (AADDO) was created. The City then allowed a right of use of the facility as well as financial grants to the AADDO.
Structure
The AADDO consists of an administrative council of seven voting members. Four of these seven volunteer members are representatives of our competitive clubs. A fifth, who is independent of any group, is appointed by the City and is responsible for representing the global interests of the Association. The two other members of the council are City employees, generally represented by the Director of the Sports, Recreation and Culture Department and a member of his staff.
The Director of the Aquatic Centre is responsible for managing both the operational and administrative aspects of the pool as well as running all programs and activities at the Centre. The Director acts as coordinator of all activities and supervisor of all employees within the Aquatic Centre. The Director is also the liaison between the Aquatic Centre and the City of Dollard-des-Ormeaux.
