Job Description

Work involving the driving and/or operation of motorized equipment and vehicles (gross vehicle weight over 4,500 kg) such as a 6 or 10-wheel truck, a Colpron, a scrubber, a transport truck, a salt spreader in operation with or without a snowplow, a watering truck, a forklift (+2,200 kg), a line marking truck, a water truck, a garbage truck and a tractor bombardier or other vehicles with or without accessories.

He/she is required to ensure the proper operation and minor maintenance of his/her vehicle or equipment, and to maintain it in a satisfactory state of cleanliness. In addition, you’ll be called upon to perform manual tasks related to the general laborer function, such as: working with and using, as needed, various manual and mechanical tools during asphalt, concrete, water, sewer, snow removal, road maintenance work, signaling and picking up branches and/or waste.

EXAMPLES OF TASKS PERFORMED

  • Cleans, empties and repairs sewer storm drains, manholes (excavation work) and sewer covers using hand and power tools;
  • Performs various digging and filling operations and operates the diamond saw used to cut concrete and asphalt;
  • Fills holes and potholes with stone dust, cold asphalt, hot asphalt, liquid asphalt or other materials.
  • Spreads, flattens, levels, compacts earth, gravel and other similar materials.
  • Loads, unloads and transports various materials such as asphalt, sand, gravel, salt, snow, earth, scrap metal, garbage, wood, etc., with the appropriate equipment.
  • Recovers and shreds branches and lays sod. Uses a curb cutter to remove weeds and sweeps streets and sidewalks.
  • Carries out annual flushing of the city’s water system.
  • Paints the roads, parking lots, bike paths, etc.

Qualifications required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in a job that allows familiarization with the nature of the work;
  • Valid driver’s licence, class 3, mention F
  • Health and Safety on Construction sites card or in process

Employment status

  • Temporary position – 36 hours per week, until November 2024 (possibility to be recalled)
  • Schedule: Day Monday to Thursday 6h45 to 15h00, Friday 6h45 to 11h45
    •        Evening Monday to Thursday 18h00 to 1h45, Friday 18h00 to 23h00

Hourly salary: $35.19 – as per the current collective agreement
