Job Description

We are looking for talented candidates to perform a variety of manual tasks related to public works activities, such as providing support to other employees and using various manual and mechanical tools, as needed, for asphalt, traffic signs, concrete work, waterworks, sewer work, snow removal, road maintenance, and branch and waste collection, while also acting as a traffic signaler.

EXAMPLES OF TASKS PERFORMED

  • Repair sewers and water basins using hand tools.
  • Helps paint streets, parking lots, bike paths, etc.
  • Participates in the recovery of branches (chipping).
  • Participates in the laying of grass patches. Uses an edger to remove weeds.
  • Removes, repairs, installs and stores various road signs and acts as a helper on various motorized equipment.
  • Participates in filling holes and potholes.
  • Participates in the collection of special waste (large items such as refrigerators, furniture, etc.).
  • Sweeps streets and sidewalks;
  • Installs and removes temporary fences, hydrant markers and barricades.
  • Cleans and maintains warehouses, public works yard, municipal buildings and vehicle parking lots.
  • Siphon and scrubber: participates in unclogging and emptying water basins in parks and public roads.

Qualifications required

  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Skilled with hands; able to handle and maintain tools, devices and equipment required for the position;
  • Have two (2) years’ experience in a similar position;
  • Health and safety certification for construction sites or in the process of being certified.

Employment status

  • Temporary position – 36 hours per week, until November 2024
  • Schedule: Monday to Thursday 6h45 to 15h00, Friday 6h45 to 11h45

Hourly salary: $32.18 – as per the current collective agreement
