Fitness Room and Courses

The Aquatic Centre’s fitness room is equipped with a variety of cardio and strength training equipment including stationary bikes, treadmills, elliptical trainers, stair masters, weight machines and free weights.

To use the fitness room, citizens either pay per visit, purchase a 10 or 20 pass card, or sign up for a membership, valid for 1, 3, 6 or 11 months. It is mandatory that residents of Dollard-des-Ormeaux show proof of address to benefit from the reduced rate.

Please note that the fitness room is reserved to those aged 18 years and over.

We offer a wide variety of fitness classes so that all our participants can choose a program that meets their needs and fitness levels. Please note that all our classes may not be offered each session.

Courses

Body Toning will provide you with a full body exercise that is fun and challenging. The focus will be on your overall strength to improve mobility and balance. All levels welcome.

Butts & Gutts is a booty and core focused workout. Using weights and body weight, we will work the leg muscles while engaging and challenging the core and abdominal muscles. All levels welcome.

This class offers you the opportunity to develop your cardiovascular capacity while toning your chest and abdominal muscles. With 45 minutes of cardiovascular exercises and 15 minutes of abdominal exercises. Intermediate level.

A high interval boxing based workout. 30 seconds of high intensity boxing alternated with lower body cardio.  This workout is sure to target all your muscles and challenge your entire body.  All levels welcome.

A challenging type of training that alternates brief periods of intense exercise with brief periods of recovery. A great way to maximize endurance, calorie burning, and muscle toning as it involves full-body exercises with the occasional aid of lightweight equipment. All levels welcome.

This total body workout has a cardio component to help improve cardiovascular fitness as well as a muscle toning component which includes exercises for abs, back, glutes, arms and legs. Suitable for all levels.

FlexFit consists of the 4 essentials for total-body fitness, strength, core, balance and mobility. Through a dynamic training structure, you will be able to work on and improve your body functionality and flexibility, both being very important elements for physical health at any stage! This class is wonderful as a compliment to other types of training as well as a workout on its own.  All levels welcome.

ESSENTRICS®

A dynamic, full body workout suitable for all fitness levels, that simultaneously combines stretching and strengthening while engaging all 650 muscles. This class will increase flexibility and mobility for a healthy, toned and pain-free body. Suitable for all levels.

Build strength, increase energy, and improve posture, flexibility, core stability and range of motion. This class offers a wide variety of non-stressful exercises in combination with specific breathing and relaxationtechniques. For all levels.

  • This a total body, low impact, strength trainingsession designed to sculpt and shape the body with various uses of free weights, resistance bands, floor exercises, and more. Get ready to feel stronger, more toned and more confident! All levels welcome.

Step is an aerobic fitness class targeting cardio.  By stepping up, around, and down from the platform/step in different patterns, your heart rate wil be boosted and your muscles will gain strength.  Whether your goal is to improve cardio vascular fitness, tone up, or simply have a good time through movement, this is a great class to join!  All levels welcome.

Stroller fit is open to all fitness levels and women who wish to join should be at least 6+ weeks postpartum. It is a full-body workout including cardio intervals, strength training and core work. Baby will remain in the baby carrier during the cardio portion and can be taken out for the floor portion of the class.  This is a fun way to meet new moms, socialize baby and best of all release those endorphins while getting back into shape! The course is held indoors during fall and winter and outdoors during spring and summer (weather permitting). Baby remains in the stroller for outdoor classes.

Tabata is a high intensity interval full body workout with the use of light weights and body weights.  Get ready to sweat! For all levels.

This class incorporates high-intensity interval training to help burn calories quickly and build muscle using mainly body weight. All levels welcome. 

This class focuses on functional fitness while incorporating your mind, body and spirit. Discover the benefits of yoga with stretching exercises, poses, postures and breathing techniques. Improve your strength, flexibility, posture as well as your balance. For all levels

We start with breathing techniques. A dynamic warm-up for the shoulders, back and hips. We continue with a sun salutation flow at a quicker pace. Several poses will be practiced.
Some balance work & inversion poses are incorporated.
The class ends with a guided meditation and relaxation.

  • A yoga practice consisting of breath work, various beginner to intermediate level yoga poses, fused with pilates toning exercises, working various muscle groups,  followed by a savasana or final relaxation. All levels welcome. 

Burn calories while having a blast! Zumba fitness classes incorporate Latin and International dance steps to music (salsa, samba, and meringue) for a fun cardiovascular and muscular workout. For all levels.
