Dollard-des-Ormeaux Parks Reinvented

Share

This week, we inaugurated even more projects!  Summer 2025 has been a season of renewal for Dollard-des-Ormeaux parks, giving residents inclusive outdoor spaces that everyone can enjoy.

At Centennial Park, the ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the opening of the brand-new chalet. A symbol of the park for more than fifty years, it has been completely transformed to meet today’s needs while preserving its original charm, including the bright red roof that recalls the 1970s structure. Brighter, more accessible, and more welcoming than ever, this landmark building is set to once again become a gathering place for families, winter sports enthusiasts, and nature lovers.

At Westwood Park, the groundbreaking ceremony marked the start of construction of a brand-new playground. Following the inaugurations of the splash pad and ninja parkour in July, children aged 5 to 12 and teens will be able to enjoy this new play area starting in November 2025.

The day concluded at Frontenac Park, where neighborhood children have already begun enjoying its new play structure. Designed for children aged 2 to 12, (but so inviting that some adults couldn’t resist trying it out 😉) this jungle-inspired space invites everyone to climb, slide, test their limits, and push beyond them.

We mustn’t forget the projects completed earlier this summer: the new basketball, tennis, and pickleball courts at Coolbrooke Park, and the opening of the new chalet at Terry Fox Park. Designed to host a wide range of sports, cultural, and community activities, this chalet is part of a larger park redevelopment centered around two themes: water, a key element in the landscaping, and the legacy of Terry Fox, a national symbol of courage and resilience.

All these achievements reflect the vision set in motion by City Council when it imagined DDO 2.0: a city looking to the future, with green spaces that are modernized, reimagined, and adapted to the needs of today’s — and tomorrow’s — residents. Behind every project lies an idea, a plan, a few lines on paper… and a team working hand in hand to bring it all to life. Our work isn’t complete until it becomes part of your life — when you and your family gather in a welcoming chalet, or when your children laugh while hanging from the monkey bars. More projects are on the way to keep making Dollard-des-Ormeaux a city where life is very good.
