On Saturday afternoon, a block of apartments caught fire on Angora Street. Fortunately, the families of the 20 units were able to escape unharmed. The Red Cross went on site to provide shelter and transportation for the victims.
The City offers its sympathies to those who were affected by this incident and hopes they will overcome this tough situation very soon. We would also like to remind our residents to check the reliability of smoke alarm detectors at home.
“I have confidence in the Red Cross and their team to provide support for the affected residents. We feel for those that have lost their belongings. We are here as a community and will help those in need in any way we can.” expressed Mayor Alex Bottausci.
The City is in contact with Sécurité civile and the Red Cross, and will be working to determine what assistance will be required for the residents affected, in the coming days. Further information will be provided once a full follow-up is completed by the responsible authorities.
