On Saturday, September 20, 2025, a representative from Hydro-Québec met with residents of the Elm Park sector at City Hall to address the ongoing power outages that have affected the area in recent months. Approximately 70 residents attended the meeting, along with MNA Brigitte Garceau, our Mayor Alex Bottausci, and Councillor Laurence Parent, who represents the affected district. This meeting was an important step forward, following sustained efforts by the City and Mayor Bottausci to push for answers and direct communication between Hydro-Québec and our residents.

During the session, Hydro-Québec presented its action plan for the sector. This plan builds on previous work to modernize the network and address issues caused by factors such as vegetation, wildlife, and other infrastructure challenges.
Most importantly, residents were finally able to hear directly from Hydro-Québec about the steps being taken to improve reliability. They expressed the importance of maintaining open communication and staying informed about any planned outages moving forward.
“Communication from HQ to our residents is not optional—it’s essential. The quality of life for our residents depends on it, and they deserve nothing less.” said Mayor Bottausci.
While electricity distribution falls under Hydro-Québec’s jurisdiction, the City remains committed to advocating on behalf of residents and ensuring their concerns are addressed. This meeting represents a positive step in that ongoing effort.
