  • Statement of offence: Beware of this SMS phishing attempt

A text message scam has recently surfaced, in which fraudsters send you a statement of offence and request immediate payment. A link included in the message opens a Web page where you are asked to provide personal information such as your name, address and banking details.

Please be advised that the City of Dollard-des-Ormeaux, the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) and the Dollard-des-Ormeaux Municipal Patrol will never contact you by text message to ask you to pay a statement of offence. When in doubt, do not hesitate to contact the Neighbourhood Station 4 police officers to assist you in verifying the validity of a message or to report a potential phishing attempt.
