Did you know that Dollard-des-Ormeaux is one of the only municipalities in the West Island with a working urban garden on its own property?
Located right in front of City Hall, this garden is lush with vegetables, herbs, and edible flowers. Thanks to the dedicated work of our municipal horticulturists – Gaétan Houle, Karine Boiron and Mathew Willox – the harvest goes far beyond decoration.
🍅 Over 170 vegetable baskets harvested and shared!
Since the beginning of the season, more than 1,700 pounds of fresh produce have been donated to local organizations such as West Island Mission, On Rock Community Services and West Island Assistance Fund.
🌿 A community-powered gesture of care
This garden isn’t just for show. The City doesn’t keep the harvests — they are shared generously with those who need it most, reflecting our collective values of inclusion, resilience, and neighbourly care.
