Electrification of the City vehicles and equipment

Share

The City of Dollard-des-Ormeaux is stepping up its commitment to sustainable practices through the progressive acquisition of electric equipment since June 2023.

Among recent acquisitions, electric leaf blowers and pole saws have been integrated, helping to reduce the carbon footprint while improving the efficiency of green space and urban infrastructure maintenance.

In April 2024, the city enhanced its fleet with two new low-speed vehicles, intended primarily for transporting equipment to community events and landscaping activities. With a range of 130 kilometers, these vehicles illustrate the city’s commitment to integrating sustainable mobility solutions into its daily operations.

To support this transition to electrification, the installation of Level 2 charging stations is scheduled for spring/summer 2025. This initiative aims to reduce long-term costs while promoting greater environmental integration within municipal operations.

For the year 2025, Dollard-des-Ormeaux plans to further expand its fleet with the acquisition of two additional electric vehicles and two ice resurfacers (Zamboni), adding to those already in service since 2023.

This initiative underlines Dollard-des-Ormeaux’s ongoing commitment to reducing its environmental footprint while building a more sustainable future for the community.
