Job Description

Driver :
You will be primarily responsible for driving vehicles (pickup trucks, 6-wheel or 10-wheel trucks) and operating equipment for maintenance operations in the roadwork and parks sectors for various assignments: asphalt, branch collection, street line painting, transport, park maintenance, etc. In addition, manual tasks related to the general laborer position are also required: using tools for asphalt, concrete, waterworks, sewer, snow removal, public maintenance, signage, and the collection of branches and debris.

Examples of Tasks Specific to the Driver Function – Public roads:
Tasks involving the driving and operation of heavy motor vehicles (gross weight > 4,500 kg): trucks, salt spreaders, forklifts (+2,200 kg), tank trucks, tractors with or without attachments. Minor maintenance, keeping equipment in good condition, and cleanliness are required.
-Repair pavement (stone dust, asphalt, etc.), dig/backfill, use the diamond saw
-Spreading, leveling, and transporting various materials
-Landscaping maintenance: collecting/chipping branches, laying sod, weeding, sweeping
-Flushing the waterworks network, road painting
-Cleaning and repairing sewers and manholes with appropriate tools

Examples of Tasks Specific to the Driver Function – Parks:
-Collect trash, empty garbage cans, cut grass, water and maintain plants.
-Install, dismantle, and repair park equipment (playgrounds, benches, fences, goals, etc.).
-Prepare and maintain sports fields, perform marking and mowing according to standards.
-Assemble, dismantle, water, and remove snow from outdoor skating rinks in winter.

Qualifications required

– Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
– Have two (2) years of experience in a position that allows familiarity with the nature of the job;
– Spoken French and English;
Valid class 3 driver’s license, with mention F.
– Health and safety card for construction sites or in the process of being obtained

Employment status

-Temporary position – 36 hours per week, employment begins in April
-Possible schedules:
Day: Monday to Thursday from 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM
Evening: Monday to Thursday from 5:45 PM to 2:45 AM; 6:30 PM to 3:30 AM; 3:30 PM to 12:30 AM
Weekend: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM

Hourly rate: $39.30 – as per the current collective convention
Weekend and night shift hourly premium: $ 1.57
