Foreman or Forewoman

Job Description

Reporting to the Division Head of the building section, the forewoman or foreman is the go-to person for managing activities and supervising staff on the weekend. In a personalized approach to ensure the quality of excellent customer service (both internal and external), his or her main responsibilities are:

 

  • Plan, organize, direct, control and coordinate the work of the weekend
  • Ensure the preparation of the ice rinks, locker rooms, bleachers, and public areas, aswell as the cleanliness of the library premises and swimming pool facilities
  • Coordinate schedules, assign tasks, and adjust priorities according to the activity schedule (hockey leagues, public skating, events, cultural and aquatic activities)
  • Monitor compliance with occupational health and safety standards and intervene in case of risky situations or incidents
  • Receive and handle complaints and requests form the public, users, and staff, follow up, and recommend preventive measures
  • Check the proper functioning of equipment (ice resurfacers, refrigeration systems, janitorial equipment, etc. ) and report any breakdowns or abnormalities
  • Maintain communication with the division head or building section manager regarding events and incidents
  • Write a report at the end of each work shift to specify information regarding events, incidents, overtime, etc.)

Qualifications required

  • College diploma in a relevant field ( building, administration, recreation or related fiels), or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in team supervision in a inionized environment, ideally in an arena or municipal buildings
  • Basic knowledge of building mechanics (arena refrigeration, ventilation, simple plumbing, etc.) is an asset
  • Mechanical aptitude to diagnose and follow up on service calls (Zamboni ice resurfacers, arena refrigeration, pool pums) with internal-external suppliers
  • Bilingual in French and English required
