What is the Directed Patrols and Vacant Houses program?
The “Directed Patrols and Vacant Houses” program has been in place in Dollard-des-Ormeaux for over 20 years. This program is offered free of charge to our residents by the municipal patrol.
How does the program work?
The “Directed Patrols” component consists of assigning patrol officers to areas that have been the subject of various reports by residents, such as excessive noise, vandalism, suspicious activity, etc., in order to increase patrol and surveillance of these areas.
The “Vacant Homes” component involves providing outside surveillance of a home during an extended absence. Patrol officers conduct a visual observation of the premises from the street and confirm that nothing is wrong with the property, such as an open or kicked-in door, signs of recent activity that shouldn’t be there, or the presence of suspicious vehicles or individuals on or near the property.
How much does the service cost?
This program is offered free of charge to Dollard-des-Ormeaux residents.
