The City of Dollard-des-Ormeaux Celebrates Its 60th Anniversary!

2020 marks the 60th anniversary of the city of Dollard-des-Ormeaux. For the occasion, the City has made itself up in sparkling beauty, with lights in Centennial Park’s trees and illuminated banners appearing on De Salaberry Boulevard.

Throughout the year, citizens are invited to celebrate our beautiful City’s values. Our Winter Carnival, which will take place in Centennial Park on February 1, will kick off the festivities. Two events are extraordinary. The first, which will take place on February 4, is more solemn. A proclamation will be issued at City Hall to mark the passage of the law that incorporated the city 60 years earlier. The second is colourful, as the grounds of the famous DDO drive-in theatre will host a special celebration on September 12. Antique cars, local products, farm animals and a late-night open-air movie will be the stars of the show.

We have come a long way as a city and we are proud of what it is today, a vibrant and culturally diverse community,” says Mayor Alex Bottausci. “The councillors and I invite you all to join in the celebrations!” Indeed, thousands of residents have settled in the City since its incorporation. For the occasion, we invite them to share their photos and memories and thus contribute to enriching the collective memory.
