Cultural Policy

The City of Dollard-des-Ormeaux is proud to present its first cultural policy, the result of a rigorous, inclusive process, deeply rooted in the lived experiences of the community. This policy reflects the City’s dedication to making culture a driver of local development and personal fulfillment. It captures the collective aspirations of the population and aims to mobilize citizens, artists, organizations, and elected officials around a shared vision.

A collaborative process

The cultural policy is based on a comprehensive analysis of the territory: a sociodemographic profile, an inventory of existing cultural offerings, public consultation, and discussions with a follow-up committee comprised of community representatives. This collaborative process identified key issues, highlighted the community’s strengths, and defined clear directions for the future.

A culture that reflects the identity of Dollard-des-Ormeaux

Culture in Dollard-des-Ormeaux draws its richness from the history, diversity, and values of the population. It is a channel for expression, dialogue, and collective pride. Through this policy, the City is committed to showcasing this cultural wealth and ensuring that every citizen is afforded the opportunity to fully participate in cultural life.

The City of Dollard-des-Ormeaux aspires to be a dynamic cultural hub in which artistic and cultural diversity is celebrated and accessible to all. By increasing its investment in culture, the City hopes to foster greater cultural vitality in the spirit of diversity, equity and inclusion.

The guiding principles stemming from the vision are as follows:

  • Foster cultural citizenship
  • Encourage participation
  • Maintain cultural democracy
  • Amplify cultural vitality
  • Maintain physical and financial accessibility in the spirit of diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Encourage the cross-sectoral integration of culture within the municipal administration

The cultural policy is structured around five key directions:

  1. Promote cultural facility upgrades
  2. Strengthen the vitality of the cultural ecosystem
  3. Boost cultural vitality
  4. Encourage citizen participation in cultural life
  5. Further structure culture management within the municipal administration

This project is made possible thanks to the financial support of the Government of Québec and the City of Dollard-des-Ormeaux as part of the 2024–2027 Cultural Development Agreement.

A real commitment to a sustainable future!
