Freezing rain: Clean-up operation underway

Share

After the ice storm of April 5 and the power outage that our residents experienced afterwards, the City is taking charge of the clean-up of the entire territory. In fact, since last Wednesday, all of our teams have been working tirelessly to clear and secure streets that may be obstructed by broken branches. It is important to note that these operations will take a few weeks to be fully completed, given the extent of the damage across the territory.

What you need to know:

  • Call 911 if you notice a broken Hydro-Québec wire.
  • Call Hydro-Québec at𝟭-𝟴𝟬𝟬-𝟳𝟵𝟬-𝟮𝟰𝟮𝟰 if you notice fallen branches on electrical wires, they will take care of them.
  • It is not necessary to call the Public Works Department to request a branch pickup. The City is already out on the streets collecting broken branches. Please stack large or long branches so that the cut section faces the street and does not encroach on the sidewalk or roadway. Branches up to 4 inches in diameter will be chipped on site, while larger diameter branches will be picked up by truck. To facilitate the work of our crews, please cut branches approximately 6 feet long and make small bundles. For more details: https://ville.ddo.qc.ca/en/live/collection/branch-pickup/
  • City crews do not go into your backyard to pick up broken branches. Please pile them up at the curb.
  • Use a qualified professional to prune and dispose of broken branches from trees on private property. The City will prune or remove trees on public property.
