Dollard-des-Ormeaux’s Green Line service supports our residents in their ecological transition. This free service promotes environmentally-friendly horticultural practices that foster the resilience of local ecosystems. Since its launch in 2003, our eco-technicians have responded to over 6,000 calls and e-mails, or more than 300 requests from residents every year – something we are very proud of!
In addition, over the past 20 years, hundreds of interactions have taken place with residents at the Green Line kiosk during the “Ecology and Gardening Day” held every year in our Centennial Park, as well as during conferences held at the library (eco-grass, grubs and composting, saving drinking water, etc.). We have also produced content for Le Journal de la Ville every year to promote and raise awareness among our residents on a wide range of environmental topics and issues.
The City’s eco-technician is a fundamental resource who provides our residents with knowledge on ecological practices for the upkeep of their grounds, such as the use of alternative solutions to pesticides and the importance of diversity. To respond to the many requests from residents, home visits are often necessary to assess the situation and make a diagnosis.
The Green Line is also responsible for ensuring that contractors comply with municipal pesticide regulations. In addition, the eco-technician works to improve regulations for the health of its citizens and the environment, encouraging them to use integrated pest management practices to help them have a healthier, more diversified lawn/garden of which they will be proud.
To mark the 20th anniversary of the Green Line, a brand new logo has been created (see below).
Long live our Green Line service!
