Following the torrential rainfall of June 20, certain facilities at the Civic Centre sustained damage requiring major repairs. This situation has led to the temporary closure of some areas, notably the library and the aquatic centre, as well as adjustments to certain activities held there.
The City is actively working to restore access to these facilities as soon as possible, while implementing temporary solutions to maintain as many services and activities as possible.
Library: Loans services continue
Although the library’s usual premises remain temporarily closed, loan services continue near entrance 4 of the Civic Centre. Staff are on site to welcome and assist residents for the duration of the repairs.
Work is continuing with the goal of reopening the usual premises as soon as they can safely accommodate the public.
Aquatic Centre: Set to reopen in late September
Renovation work at the Aquatic Centre is progressing well. The pools are currently scheduled to reopen in late September, subject to completion of the necessary work.
Solutions to keep activities going
The City recognizes the importance of the activities offered at the Civic Centre, particularly for seniors, who find opportunities there to stay active, meet others and maintain social connections.
While some facilities may not be available in time for the start of the new season, alternative spaces are currently being explored and prepared to ensure that as many activities as possible can resume.
Our teams remain committed to finding solutions and gradually restoring access to the affected facilities.
We thank residents for their patience and understanding. The City will continue to provide updates regarding the reopening of facilities and the resuming of activities as work progresses.
