American stops? No thanks!

Share

In Quebec, the term “American stop” refers to a rolling stop, where a driver will slow down at a STOP sign before moving off almost immediately, without coming to a full and safe stop. This dangerous habit constitutes an offence under the Highway Safety Code and is subject to a fine with demerit points.

In Dollard-des-Ormeaux, motorists are encouraged to make complete stops. It only takes two seconds, but it can make a big difference on the road.

Together, we can make our streets safer for everyone.
