Job Description

Reporting to the Head of the Parks and Green Spaces Division, the incumbent plans, directs, and oversees
activities related to the horticultural and arboricultural maintenance of municipal lands. He or she manages field
crews (blue-collar workers) and oversees contracts within his or her area of responsibility. He or she ensures the
quality of work performed and compliance with occupational health and safety standards. He or she ensures
compliance with policies, municipal by-laws, and the collective bargaining agreement.

Main responsibilities
– Plan and coordinate maintenance work on green spaces (flower beds, lawns, landscaping, etc.)
– Supervise pruning, tree removal, planting, and maintenance of municipal trees
– Manage day-to-day operations of blue-collar teams, set objectives, and monitor the implementation of activities
(task assignment, supervision, evaluation)
– Participate in seasonal planning and the prioritization of work
– Ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and programs, and intervene as needed
– Follow up on citizen requests and corrective actions by ensuring the implementation of solutions and preventive
measures
– Support other departments with technical expertise during special events
– Draft specifications and issue recommendations for contract awards
– Ensure the availability of inventory and materials

Qualifications required

– College diploma or other experience in a related field
– 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
– Good knowledge of health and safety standards
– Experience in personnel management in a unionized environment
– Experience in contractual supervision
– Bilingual in French and English.

Regular position – 38 hours per week
