Foreman – roads and parks

Public work department

 

Salary scale (pay grade 2) : 86388 $ à 123 534 $

Regular position – 38 hours per week

Schedule based on organizational needs

 

The role in the Public Works Department has as its main responsibility to plan, organize, direct, control, and coordinate activities and work plans aimed at ensuring the completion of maintenance and cleaning work on the territory, as well as activities related to parks and green spaces. During the winter season, it will also be necessary to supervise snow removal operations.

 

Main responsibilities

 

  • Plan, organize, direct, and coordinate work plans aimed at maintaining public roads, sidewalks, bike paths, bus shelters, parking lots, as well as parks and green spaces during both the summer and winter seasons;
  • Coordinate and assign work to blue-collar employees under your supervision, while respecting the provisions of the current collective agreement.
  • Receive and handle complaints and requests within your unit: resolve them, follow up, make recommendations for appropriate preventive measures, and implement them.
  • Ensure the health and safety of your team and enforce OHS rules in your operations.
  • Monitor the compliance of work within your area of expertise carried out by contractors.
  • When necessary, participate in the preparation of technical specifications and division tender documents;

Qualifications required

Required qualifications:

 

 

  • College diploma or other experience in a related field
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
  • Good knowledge of health and safety standards
  • Experience in personnel management in a unionized environment
  • Experience in contractual supervision
  • Bilingual in French and English.
