Created in 1988, Municipality Week promotes municipal democracy and governance. It provides an opportunity to highlight municipalities, their role, their work, the people who contribute to it, and the democratic life associated with them. Through the services they provide and the projects they carry out, municipalities are at the heart of residents’ everyday lives.

The way we get around is evolving, and so is our city!
🚌 With the arrival of the REM and the reorganization of STM bus routes, residents have new options for getting around the West Island and connecting with the rest of Montreal.
🚶♀️🚲 On foot or by bike, every trip counts too. Our pedestrian and bike paths, now complemented by seven BIXI stations, offer more options for active transportation.
🛣️ Effective mobility also depends on well-maintained infrastructure. The City maintains its roads, sidewalks and bike paths to support safe and pleasant travel, whatever mode of transportation residents choose.

A well-maintained city, every day
In Dollard-des-Ormeaux, our teams work every day to maintain the infrastructure and public spaces that residents rely on and enjoy.
🛣️ Roads, sidewalks, bike paths, signage and public spaces: our teams work to keep them clean, functional and safe. From spring to fall, streets are swept at least once every three weeks.
❄️ In winter, the challenge takes on a whole new scale! When snow falls, around 20 vehicles are deployed to clear 382 km of roads and 77 km of sidewalks.
🗑️ Our services also evolve with the needs of the community. The City is modernizing its collection services, among other initiatives, to make operations more efficient and better suited to today’s realities.

In Dollard-des-Ormeaux, nature plays an important role in neighbourhood life. With its many parks and green spaces, the City offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, stay active and spend time together close to home.

Dollard-des-Ormeaux is home to 34 parks, including Centennial Park, a large green space at the heart of the city. With mature trees, wooded areas and numerous green spaces, it helps make nature an integral part of everyday life.
Parks account for 4.8 hectares per 1,000 residents, exceeding the Quebec standard of 4 hectares per 1,000 residents.
🌱 Growing our natural environment
The City continues to invest in and expand its natural environment. In 2026, more than 1,000 trees and shrubs are planned as part of various greening projects.
🐝 Initiatives that support biodiversity
Nature is also present through initiatives that bring biodiversity closer to everyday life. A food forest, municipal vegetable garden and honeybee hives help diversify natural spaces and raise awareness of the importance of biodiversity.

On the ground, our Municipal Patrol, the SPVM Neighbourhood Police Station 4 and Fire Station 61 provide a reassuring presence for residents.
🚸 Safer roads for everyone
The City is also implementing measures to improve the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and motorists, so that everyone can get around in a safer environment.

Being prepared for emergency situations is another way residents can help protect themselves and their loved ones. The City’s website offers advice on preparing an emergency plan, putting together a 72-hour emergency kit and developing an evacuation plan.
