Vigilant residents contribute to arrests

Collaboration between residents, Police District Station 4 (PDQ 4) of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), and the City of Dollard-des-Ormeaux continues to produce positive results in terms of public safety.

During a recent municipal council meeting, PDQ 4 Commander Annie Mercier highlighted the exceptional engagement of Dollard-des-Ormeaux residents following two community meetings organized in partnership with the City in March.

These meetings helped strengthen ties between residents and police services by fostering direct communication, a better understanding of neighbourhood concerns, and ongoing collaboration in the field.

The vigilance of residents and the timely reporting of suspicious situations helped support police work, contributing to arrests as well as a decrease in residential break-ins in certain sectors.

The Mayor of Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Alex Bottausci, praised both the involvement of residents and the work of the SPVM

“Dollard-des-Ormeaux residents are engaged, vigilant, and deeply committed to their community. In Dollard-des-Ormeaux, we take pride in looking out for one another and taking an active role in helping keep our neighbourhoods safe. This strong sense of civic responsibility and community spirit is what defines our city. I also want to sincerely thank the SPVM for taking our residents’ concerns seriously, for their proactive approach, and for their continued presence on the ground. The partnership between the City and PDQ 4 continues to deliver concrete results for our community.”

PDQ 4 Commander Annie Mercier also emphasized the importance of this citizen engagement

This level of citizen engagement is truly exceptional and very positive. Residents of Dollard-des-Ormeaux have demonstrated strong vigilance and a genuine commitment to the safety of their community. Their timely and relevant reports directly supported police operations on the ground, leading to concrete results. We sincerely thank them for their trust and ongoing collaboration.”

This collaboration between residents, the SPVM and the City is helping strengthen a climate of trust, vigilance and mutual support within the community.

Together, these collective efforts contribute to building a safer and more inclusive living environment for all.
