The significant rainfall received today has caused water accumulation and flooding in several areas of Dollard-des-Ormeaux.
Since the first incidents were reported around 3 p.m., City teams have been mobilized in the field to monitor the situation, respond to calls, and intervene in the most affected areas. Municipal employees are working together to address reported issues and provide support to affected residents.
The City understands the challenges and concerns this situation may create for those impacted. We are closely monitoring developments and will continue our response efforts as long as necessary.
Safety Tips
To reduce the risk of basement sewer backups, residents are asked to limit water usage as much as possible until further notice:
• Avoid taking showers or baths;
• Postpone the use of washing machines and dishwashers;
• Limit water use in sinks;
• Avoid flushing toilets unnecessarily.
To help ensure your safety and that of your loved ones, please follow these recommendations:
- Avoid travelling through flooded streets, whether on foot or by vehicle.
- Never remove catch basin covers or manhole covers, as this creates a serious safety hazard.
- If water enters your home, shut off power to affected areas if it can be done safely.
- Avoid contact with floodwater whenever possible.
- Document any damage to your property with photographs and keep receipts for emergency expenses.
